Unroll surface edge anomaly

Hi gurus,

I’ve just opened 7 for the first time for a play and found this odd edge anomaly on an unroll surface.

I lofted through 2 straight curves, surface offset and unroll surface. I was wondering whether there’s something I can do to get some more convincing shapes?

thanks in advance

Hi Giles - on the lower face of that object… extract it, and InsertKnot > Direction=Both and hi8t Automatic two or three times, then rejoin the surface to the rest and unroll - any better?

Yes much better! I’d never have thought to do that. Could you tell me what problem that alleviated so that I can learn where and how to use it in the future?

thanks @pascal

Hello - It was something of a shot in the dark - I saw the surface that unrolls messily is very sparse and simple - generally a good thing of course - and I know there are other areas like surface to surface intersections where more information sometimes helps, so I gave it a whack and it worked. (It’s not like I know how the unroller math actually works…)

That’s very handy to know. I’ll do my best to remember next time. Thanks again.
