Hi @jonm
Why am i getting this error when i try to attach a door to a wall?
A follow up question would be the difference between “ggIFC {Element}” and “ggIFC {Element}StandardCase”? I cant seem to find “ggIFC {Element}” in the latest gh components. It seems that “ggIFC {Element}” has the benefit of putting an IFC Representation item?
I also have a qns as to why ggIFC DoorStandardCase output is a curve rather than a 3d object. And how would I put in a custom ifc representation for door?
Here’s some context on doors (and windows) in IFC in Grasshopper.
The primary motivation for initially supporting IFC in Grasshopper was primarily to assist Grasshopper to Revit workflows.
Particularly in this case, for windows and doors it was required for the families to be loaded, then in Grasshopper you pimarily needed to nominate the wall host, location.
The tools have been developed on demand, but I would suggest that windows and doors have not been a highly used part. So if you are looking for a workflow, then I’ll certainly look at what improvements are needed.
It would be great to share a grasshopper script showing how you are preferring to nominate say the door geometry (as the equivalent of a block?) You can do this privately.
The more you can share, the faster and more effectively I can help.
