Hello everyone!
I am completely new to Rhino and NURBS modeling but I’m trying to learn as much as possible. I’m currently modeling a ship hull using a layout of single span surfaces matched together. Right now I’m in the process of figuring out how to lay out my patches before I do the final guide curves and surfacing.
One area that I’m stuck on is the transition from the flat keel to the stem as shown in the image below. I can’t figure out how to best solve this area to get a clean looking result. If I just use one single span surface then I am not able to get the bottom completely flat before the stem as in the intended design.
In the example below I have tried creating two surfaces from edge curves and then a blend surface between them. Even if my curves aren’t perfect right now the end result isn’t very good. The blend surface becomes quite wobbly which is clearly visible in angles. I can probably refine it by doing my guide curves better and massaging the control points but I’m wondering if there is another more sophisticated way of solving this before I give it another go.
Thank you in advance for any help or guidance!
PS, I’m not a fan of solutions that involve network surf or patch.
