Transparency to PNG texture mesh?

I have one texture that I am able to make transparent and another that I can’t…and I can’t figure out why one works and the other doesn’t. What I"m trying to do is ad a security wire mesh to a glass window in a door… Like this: http://www.cdlocks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/photo-11.jpg

Help. What settings would I need to apply to a texture file like this one in order to make the white transparent and leave the mesh black…

Hi Peter - if you add the image as a texture for color and again in the transparency channel, with the output inverted in the transparency channel, it should work.

Thanks Pascal. I gave it a try and it did work on the JPG but not on the PNG attached. The PNG shows black. Any idea why?

Hi Peter - this works better to assign a black or darkish color to the material and remove the image from the color channel., just use it for transparency, with the transparent color set to a light gray wiith 10% ‘slop’

And the output inverted as before.
