Time spent modelling

Hi there, is it possible to as Rhino how long you have spent working on a file? Either modelling time, or the time the file has spent open. Thanks

In my company we keep our computer always online. I just log off or restart once a week to install windows updates or to satisfy our security system. Longest project with Rhino being involved was 8 month, but not direct modelling. Longest time a file was open: 3 weeks. No problems/memory leaks encountered, if this is the intention of your question.

We do this also, but we are more looking to know the actual time spent modelling/working within the files. Thanks

hard to tell. why do you need to know that, if I can ask you this?

Probably to put employees under more pressure if theyā€™re too slow ; )

I use Caato Time Tracker (start and stop are manual). Find it on the Mac App Store. Alternatively or in integration you can use ā€œUsageā€ https:/ /www.mediaatelier.com/Usage/ that automatically measures the time spent with the app ā€¦ (the problem is that if Rhino is open but in the meantime Iā€™m on the beach ā€¦). using them both can be a solution.

Thank you all for your suggestions. There are only 2 of us in our office so it was simply for cost purposes for future projects rather than for putting any one under pressure.

Well thats impossible to tell. Its up to what you do. I recently and privatly modelled some printable extention for my oculus touch controller. Took me about 2 hours to build 5 parts. At work Iā€˜m so much bound to quality and technical conditions, that I modell months, 24/5 for one car facelift . And Iā€˜m using multiple cad platforms more suited for this. In Rhino only I would need even more time. But if people pay you this, its not bad getting payed forā€¦ You should see it this way. Furthermore skill is a huge factor. If you cannot estimate modelling time, you should practice beforehand.

That would be a good idea for a plugin - in the spirit of all those life-managing apps on smartphones, or the new screen time in ios 12ā€¦
Not only time in file, but more granular - commands history, time in commands vs. viewport navigation (creation / review times), system username that had the file open, size tracking etc.

Programming wise its easy enough and you can have all the custom data in the 3dm file itself

Maybe i find time for this in the next monthsā€¦

if you do so, please donā€™t tell my boss about it
