Three Decal Requests

I’ve been using Decals lately, and overall impressed but there’s a few things that would be great to improve.

  1. It’s pretty great that you can apply one decal across multiple objects at once, for instance these livery stripes here:

The fuselage, door, and baggage door are all different objects, but I was able to assign the decal to all 3 at once. However, editing is a bit of a highwire act - you have to turn on the widget for all the objects and then select them all. I tried to trick Rhino into doing something useful by creating a Group out of all the widgets, but this did not seem to work. Being able to Group widgets would be huge!

  1. Text based Decals - there should be some way to bring up a Text Object and then use it directly as a Decal. As it stands right now, you need to make your text in something like Photoshop and then bring that in as a PNG. Being able to just apply a Text Object as a decal would be a very nice timesaver.

  2. The ability to Mirror a decal in one direction and send to both sides of the model (thinking specifically about text but could apply to other cases as well). Any text that gets applied can only be put on one side because if you send it to both, it of course is backwards on one side. So the decal would get sent to one side regular, but the other side mirrored. As it stands right now, you have to do text decals twice to work around this. At least you can snap to the Decal widget for alignment, but it’s a lot of extra work.
