I’m confused!
I’m trying to get used to RH9 but there are lots ob problems. One simple but important thing is regarding modeling aid behaviour of the tab and shift key.
For example when I draw a polyline, I was used to pressing the shift key in RH8 and then the standard behaviour would be that the current line segment would snap orthogonally. If I would then press the tab key, that orthogonal direction would stay locked. Now in RH9beta (the latest) the shift ortho snap doesn’t work reliably, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Furthermore locking in one of the snapped ortho directions (if it finally does snap) with the tab key doesn’t work at all.
This is absolutely driving me crazy and I don’t know how to get back the RH8 behaviour. Was this changed or is this a bug? Is this the new expected behaviour and if so why on earth would you do/change that? Have I maybe changed the behaviour while trying out stuff in RH9? I don’t think so.
Is this a bug? If it is, please fix it asap. If not, please help me get back the expected behavior.
I don’t see this here in a quick test. Does this happen in a fresh new file?
In any case, I don’t think this part of the code has changed at all for Rhino 9. If anything is different that is a bug.
When I open a new/blank rhino file it works for the first segment of a polyline. shift for snapping to the ortho direction seems to work for all following segments but then locking the snapped direction in with tab only works for the first segment of the first polyline I draw in a new document. tab also doesn’t work at all for any new polyline. basically just the first time I use tab, then not again.
correction:
shift ortho snap also behaves differntly after the first polyline segment. first/initial segment I press shift and it will snap to whatever ortho is nearestm (that is how I expect it to behave). after the first segment shift will only snap when I’m already very close to one of the ortho directions.
