Hi,
Working in architecture, detail drawing is omnipresent. Line symbologies are regularly used to represent the waterproofing layers, vapour barriers and other fine technical layers. (see example)
Software such as Vectorworks, Archicad and Illustrator allow you to create this type of line quickly and easily. What about Rhino? Is it possible?
Thanks!
Hi @Pipouille,
These shapes are done with SHXs in AutoCAD, similar to fonts.
Even adding a simple text sting like W for Water or SD for storm drain would be helpful in Rhino.
We have wishes already logged for:

I will add your vote to wish,
Thanks for letting us know that you are looking for these in Rhino.

Hi @mary,
Thanks for following up on this.
I’m not sure exactly how SHX would work. But what is comfortable for example in Vectorworks (see screenshot) is that you can define a geometry (group of hatches and curves) that you want to repeat along a line. This has the advantage of being able to draw any geometry in any colours (multiple colours), and of having a good resolution for them. No tessellation of curves or anything else. It’s like a symbol that is repeated, following a rhythm along a curve.
Thanks for the link, it redirects to some really interesting discussions and possibilities on the subject. For all the posts there are more than 10K views, it seems that it raises a lot of interest.
Best,
Pipouille
Hi @Pipouille,
This is super helpful and will be useful to the developers as they are typing on the feature.
I have also imagined it working like the Toolbar editor button image. These dialogs are already done in Rhino and could possibly be repurposed in the code for the complex linetypes, or at least be a starting point.
I will add both suggestions to the YT.
And maybe we will see some movement in Rhino 9 development.
Currently it is future which means there is not commitment on when we will see this in Rhino, but the developers know about it and are trying to prioritize it with other new features and improvements.
But all the discussion help them know that I am not the only one looking for this! lol!
Thanks for your suggestions.

Mary Ann Fugier
is there any need to reinvent the wheel? i would just copy shx from autocad
