Hi there,
To give you a quick description of what I generally use Grasshopper for: I create 2d artworks that (put simply) fall within the hard edge abstraction genre, i.e. generally geometric with crisp edges. I would normally create a definition that spits out a number of surfaces, and I then assign colours to them. What I’ve been trying to do is to create more organic and amorphous shapes. By applying an edge blur effect to a surface, they immediately look less rigid.
So far I’ve managed to create this:
This is achieved by copying a surface and stacking them on top of one another (with gaps in between), and adjust the scale and opacity of each surface. More clear if you look at it from the side.
“Okay, so what’s your question then?” I haven’t found any topics on the forum about creating this kind of effect, so I thought that someone else might appreciate the thought process.
I see Aviary has a Blur Effect component (which I presume is a lot simpler than this layer cake methodology), but I can’t figure out how it works. I’m not familiar with the required input format (“Graphic”) - anyone able to shed some light on this?
