But how did I know the store was closed?..

One manâs trash is another manâs treasure.
I give upâŚout!
Rhino´s guy went on, found another store and brought you bread.
You just noticed that it was not the bread you wanted (and hadn´t care to specify in your order because you had already said it yesterday) when you tasted it and didn´t like it.

No. He didnât buy any bread, and he didnât say a thing to me. Heâs fired.
Wasnât hungry anywayâŚ
Iâm glad I followed this soap opera of a thread to the bitter end, because now I know about this super sweet Discourse feature.
Yes, it was worth it for me too. But I have to admit, this was a pretty entertaining discussion. Toward the end, I was just coming back for the chuckles.
This scenario is bogus. Mr. Big never leaves his evil lair under the volcanoâŚ
and the âtop tech guyâ is not allowed to leave his desk for a sales meeting.

Why not create a shortcut to use âbetweenâ while using other commands. (If itâs it already done)
@gaillard.fr
Press and hold the Shift key and hover the mouse over the Osnap control.
You can also create an alias; âbâ for example. https://docs.mcneel.com/rhino/6/help/en-us/index.htm#options/aliases.htm?Highlight=alias
Hello Fred,
Iâve already try to make an alias for âbetweenâbut it look like itâs not working. I might be doing something wrongâŚ
Anyway, thank you for the answer
@gaillard.fr
Try this: alias.txt (470 Bytes)
Select Tools menu >Options >Aliases and Import the attached text file. It is the default set plus the âbetweenâ addition. Choose OK and it should be available whenever you are picking a point.
Hello - what happens? Keep in mind that Between and other âone-shotâ snaps do nothing unless Rhino is currently looking for a point location from the user. Make sure to test your alias inside a command looking for a point, like Line
or Move
-Pascal
Thank you! Everything work fine now. I was writing the alias that way: '_between ⌠That was why it wasnât workingâŚ
@gaillard.fr Youâre welcome. Here is some additional reading:
https://docs.mcneel.com/rhino/6/help/en-us/index.htm#information/rhino_scripting.htm%3FTocPath%3DScripting%20and%20programming|_____1
Revit cost 1 year $2,310.00 (expires after a year)
Rhino cost $995 (does not expire) + Visual Arc $795 (does not expire) = $1,790
$1,790 < $2,310.00
What was the point here?
Rhino would be a better software, at least here at our Architecture Office, as we made a lot of exterior images:
PS: Finally what the world want is a stable software. Easy to learn that achieve great results.
Because in the architecture field there is no time. It all about dead lines.
Our bosses wont let us learn new mechanisms of work.
I think you are missing the point of Rhino, which is not being an architectural visualisations software based on polygonal modelling! In your expectations you are comparing apples with oranges.
Over the years many architectual and render plugins had been developed or existing plugins had been integrated. And of course there are many working workflows for architectual processes. But in the end Rhino is a broad, versatile engineering(!) software. The intention of Rhino is to create manufacturable data, primarily created for the naval industry. The use of Nurbs is not trying to create a fast modelling process, instead its intended to be a precise modeling software. Modelling a shape in Nurbs, allows you to describe a shape in parametric equations, which is mandatory for many production processes. Of course, this extra information any Nurbs shape has, comes with the extra cost of creating it.
Of course there is no point in using Nurbs for CGI only. Mixing both worlds is problematic anyway. And of course any tessalation based on Nurbs data is not optimal for being used in visualisation workflows. So its obviously the wrong tool then.
The same issues regarding Illustrator. But I believe if you work precise in Rhino, youâll get a precise export to Illustrator.
I also find Rhino quite stable. But of course it always demands precise working. And any dead to precision is a unrealistic deadline. I think for your purposes, your workflow might be a problem. Maybe you should only sketch 2d using a Nurbs-based technology and start working in 3d space using a true polygonal modelling software like 3dsMax or similar. Or ask your boss for more timeâŚ
Hi Tom.
Much appreciate of your knowledge and your tip about Rhino foundations.
For us here in our office Rhino as been a friendly software. But in fact you are right. We need specific tools. 3DS Max would be nice to learn. I have to star on it.
