Suddenly crazy lines everywhere! - Help! - (solved)

Hello.

I am very new to Rhino7, but have been making pretty quick progress of modelling a boat hull. But suddenly, I have a million unexplained lines emanating, almost like light rays, from my model.
They seem to be tied to the display of the model, rather than parts of the model itself, as the “rays” are not select-able.

I am not aware of how to post an image here, or I would add a screenshot.

I am probably not articulating this issue very well, but might anyone have any idea what has happened, and how to remedy it?

On a Windows computer you can drag an image or other file to where you type a post. I don’t know if that works on Macs. You can also click on the vertical arrow icon above where you type a post to upload a file.

Frequently posting a .3dm (Rhino format) file with the problem helps with getting help.

Did you do any tutorials or similar before diving in to model the boat hull? Have you used other software which you are assuming Rhino is similar to?

Please type systemInfo in the Rhino command line and paste the results here.

Assuming this is an Mac issue and either the OpenGL is not performing (go into preferences and check or uncheck the GPU tessellation) or the geometry is really far from origin.

Yes. Checking the GPU Tessellation’s box did the trick. THANK YOU.

What is this all about, and what may have caused it to change?

The struggle is real with Apple and AMD moving forward and keeping OpenGL working. Rhino 8 will be in Apple’s native metal graphics; AMD will get their stuff sorted out, they rewrote their OpenGL driver code over the summer (which is more on the windows side) not sure if this is Apple or AMD, or a combination of both.

Thanks for posting the file, this will help us make fixes to their fixes.

In a mac you go to the pulldown for Rhino 7>Preferences>OpenGL
