Stop loft of 3D curve when loft self intersects?

Hello,
I have a 3D curve that I’m trying to extrude. During the axis extrusion, there is collision where the line double backs on itself creating surface.

I’m ultimately trying to mill this piece on a lathe, however this ridge adds material to the true model.

Is there a way to restrict the loft so it does not create a surface in the closed loop portion?

I have attached my .gh and a picture of the physical milling the model to help show the issue.

Thanks!

Maybe like this?

3D_projection_curve_RE.gh (21.1 KB)

This got me very close to what I needed.
Thanks!

I just created a patch surface from the section that didn’t extrude, merged the two and got exactly what I wanted.
