_Area or _Volume on an entire polysurface is a good start, and their results can be compared with those of equivalent calculations in another CAD application.
When comparing 2 models in Rhino and the _Area or _Volume deviation is unacceptable, a quick way to find offending faces may be to overlay the before and after translation models set to difference colors and look for inconsistent bleeding of the rendering mesh polygons.
Then, use _PointDeviation on each suspicious set of faces.
