SLA 3D printing?

Hi

I am currently writing about SLA 3dprinting and was wondering if anyone here uses this technology?

please list some of the things being made with it and why it’s being used in industrial or commercial usage if possible an image would be great so that I can use on the presentation later

Thanks in advance

I’ve used a formlabs 2 a few years ago for high resolution models with ‘engraved’ text. Text size was about 3 mm. Not something you could do with any other print technology at that time and I think even now.

More recently I saw a Stratasys SLA printer with almost 1 m³ build volume and a special orange resin which is good to measure with lasers…

A picture from DMC in Silverstone:

I believe this large volume SLA is mainly used in motorsports.

Our current production is related to carbon accessories. We often turn to SLA printing for accompanying products. Here is one of hundreds of possible examples - a spoon holder. It was very difficult to combine shagreen on the surface and the absence of seams. The solution was found in 3D printing.

That wall climbing project is perfect to talk about

So if I understand this right the blue blocks you printed out in 8 pieces can be configured for different placements using lego structures underneath for quick prototype wall layouts?

The orange resin material is good when scanning parts is it called something?

Correct :+1:

I don’t have any more details on the orange resin but as far as I understand it has a benefit in the wind tunnel. Apparently the resin costs a lot…

I’ve just started my MSLA journey.

Have designed a plastic item I want to make in low volumes, designed the master moulds to then make some silicone moulds to then cast some parts.

Using the MSLA printer to make prototypes and then the final master moulds.

Is proving to be more challenging than I originally expected but will get there in the end…
