I installed the most recent upgrade of R8 and I have no left sidebar with the tool icons. How do I make it visible?
Hi Joe -
As a first step, run the WindowLayout
command and restore the default layout.
Does that bring those back?

Hi Wim,
I have no sidebar at all and I don’t see the command box.
Hi Joe -
I have no idea if that means that you’ve tried restoring the default layout…
-wim
OK, I thought I had done that but apparently not so now I have the sidebar.
Thanks
Hi Wim,
Rhino just crashed for an unknown reason and when I re-opened it the Sierra was absent. I went to default and it is now in the window Does this mean it will be like that every time I open Rhino?
Joe
Hi Joe -
I’m not seeing any recent crash reports from you. Did the crash reporter pop up, and, if so, did you send it in?
What happens when you close all instances of Rhino, launch a single instance, set the window layout to default, quit Rhino, and start Rhino again? Is the window layout still as it was?
Also, please run the Rhino SystemInfo
command and copy-paste the result here.

Instances, meaning drawings? I closed my drawing and and selected “default”, then I closed Rhino and opened with a new model. The sidebar was there.
Hi Joe -
Yes, just making sure that Rhino is completely shut-down.
That sounds like things are working as they should. When Rhino crashes, on the other hand, I suppose it’s not always clear what state is remembered and the next launch might get messed up.
When you customize your window layout, make sure to save a new layout, and exit. That way, you are sure that you can restore that custom layout when you want.

Excellent, thanks.
