Show Guides feature?

Quick question about using AddGuide, RemoveGuide commands. I’m aware that they are only visible when SmartTrack is turned on and when you are creating some sort of geometry. Is there a way to have the guides visible even when I’m not in an active mode of a certain command? Maybe “ShowGuides” or something of that sort?

I’m not a developer, but I’m disappointed…2 years to have such a simple request and still nothing? It’s so hard to add one option that shows the guides when we want? Why each new simple users request it seems each time so difficult to realize?

adding a vote to have “show guide” - hopefully it gets in Rhino 9

drawing lines to use as guides should be no more.
