Yeah but it’s also not necessary to read every post in this thread. You scroll until you see a picture you like and download the files. Yes a single repository would be easier, but it’s not @Rhino_Bulgaria responsibility to spend all that time doing in. Posting on a forum is how we share information. If you want more its up to you.

I needed some display mode that exposes the change in curvature while looking at extreme angles (3/4 view), so I combined two of my old display modes into a new one. The trick is to use a high contrast ring around the perimeter of the environment map to simulate reflective highlights. This is especially useful for modeling of cars, airplanes, boats and any curved product design where the goal is to focus on the highlights.
Notice the side surfaces of the airplane fuselage towards the tail, as well as the side highlight above the front air intake. The front windshield also has pronounced highlights that are completely absent in the regular Shaded view in Rhino.

The other new display mode that I use recently is a quite simple and aims to deliver a cleaner look with low contrast.

It’s fantastic because it shows exactly where the defect is.
Very nice looking 3d model, and the highlights seem to do their job as intended.
The goal with this particular display mode is exactly this: accentuate on the highlights and expose any curvature irregularities.
These two may be more suitable for your needs. I shifted the highlight to the top and made a mirrored copy at the bottom, so this should help with inspecting nearly flat shapes such like shoes. While "Bobi XX14 had a single highlight, there are now 2 highlights for “Bobi 15” and 3 highlights for “Bobi 16”.

@Rhino_Bulgaria I wanted to try the two materials, but you didn’t share the settings file. Bobi xx14 Anyway, I was testing them on an old car model I had modeled last year. With the 3/4 view, it highlights the areas that are in G0 and G1 really well. In fact, it was clearly showing the problematic areas where I had left the work at a stage where the surfaces were still in G0 and G1 and still needed to be refined.
Here I had fun checking where the errors were; in fact, it highlighted all the areas that still needed improvement. I think this is one of the best visualization modes available today.

P.S. I just watched your video. You may need to tune the render mesh settings, in order to make the fillets appear smoother. for example, I use these settings to export small objects for 3d printing, but you can set “Minimum distance, edge to surface” to 0,2 mm and see if this is good enough for you.
Great, I hadn’t thought about that. In fact, I couldn’t understand why, even though I was sure that in some areas — like the front section of the hood near the beginning — the surface was perfectly fine, a strange “V” shape still appeared along the symmetry line. That visual artifact was really bothering me. I increased the mesh display quality and it instantly improved with your settings. Thanks a lot for the tip.@Rhino_Bulgaria

I recorded a video that shows it — it’s incredible how much it improves compared to how I was viewing it before, hahaha. At minute 2:14, right after I press OK, you can clearly see the increase in mesh quality.
By the way, the file that you have opened super fast. Nice PC!
If you experience any slowdown due to the increase of the mesh density, you can go to the settings of the display mode and increase this one to 100%. That will ignore the shadows, but they will be still active. The framerate should be faster that way, but you will no longer see the gentle shadows that contribute to the perceived depth of the 3d model.
Disabling the shadows entirely also improves the framerate, but this comes at the cost of a totally different appearance of the rendered material and a very flat image, so I recommend to leave it enabled.
If you change “Density” from 1 to 0, that will reduce the mesh density (typically 4 times reduction of the polygon count, but depends on the overall shape).
