do you have any suggestions for dividing a shape into (movable) segments that respect the shape’s boundaries?

A very cryptic question; do you have a sketch describing what you want to achieve?
Imagine a cake cut into slices!
Use a cake sized cylinder and split it with planes. Make a revolve surface with the slice angle you want per piece and then rotate/copy to complete the cake.
If I have to make plans one by one, and then divide the object using those same plans…
