Select Surface same plane of a curve

Hi there,

I am looking for a solution to automatically select the surface that is on the same plane of the selected curve.
Otherway; I would like to select a closed curve, then the script would identify the surface that is located on the same plane as the closed curve.

EDIT: I have found BoxSelection reasonable, however it is complicated.

I haven’t tried this script but it sounds like it is what you want.

Coplanar script

A bit late here as I have been pretty busy with other stuff, but here’s a slightly different variation - also a Python script, so it will run on Mac. It will select either objects strictly co-planar with a given planar curve or planar surface, or any planar objects on a plane parallel to the selected object - there is a command line toggle between the two if no object is preselected. Should work if the surface is a single surface, but it won’t if it’s part of a polysurface.

Dear Members, I have been working on the digitization of building roofs. The roofs has to be “coplanar”.
Can any one provide any script to globally run on the multiple building polygons similar to the attached image…but some roof polygons are more complex…so that all polygons will automatically align to their respective plane within a slight tolerance. Need to run on the thousands of polygons to make them coplanar.
