Section Views in Layouts

What is the best way to make section views in layouts/drawings?

Hi Craig -

I tend to create a clipping plane in the perspective viewport in model space, select the clipping plane, and, with Auto CPlane on, create a named view. Then create a detail on a layout, make that active and restore the named view.

Auto Cplane is only in V8? I’m using V7. I can’t seem to get this to work quite right.

Hi Craig -

I see that I forgot to mention the final step. If you need a plan view in the detail, after you’ve restored the named view, run the Plan command. That’s the reason for selecting the clipping plane and having Auto CPlane on when saving the named view.
