Scale and rotate no longer show result

Hi all

Recently when I started using the scale or rotate commands, the object I’m rotating / scaling disappears, and I can no longer estimate what I’m doing with it? Any help?

Hi Nico,

Do I interpret it correct that your do not get a preview of the object you are transforming?
If you finish the command, the object is transformed, yet you cannot use the result because you did not get a preview.

Can you run the command SystemInfo and paste the resulting output here?
It can give a clue if your GPU driver might be out of date or apparently incomaptible.

Hi Willem

Yes, exactly - no preview while doing transformations.

It had worked perfectly until quite recently.

Hi Nico - if your objects are very far from the origin, (?) this bug was recently fixed - I think the fix will be in the 6.9 release candidate.

-Pascal

Hi Pascal

They are about 200/300 metres away, not sure at which point the origin becomes a problem?

Hi Nico - that should not be the problem then I’d guess - does it make any difference if you move the objects close to the (world) origin? In other words, does this ever look correct or only in some cases?

-Pascal

It is intermittent - on the exact same files, without moving objects closer to the origin, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t.

Hello - can you post an example or send to tech@mcneel.com?

thanks,

-Pascal

It happens to basically all my files, and then works again occasionally on a restart. I’ll post an example of a file which it happened to. 2018.08.23 - TRS - Fracture child.3dm (889.6 KB)

Hi Nico - just to be sure - is it the original object that is not showing or the selected/highlighted rotated object? I think I understand it is the latter but just making sure.
Does it make any difference if you change the setting in Options > View > OpenGL > GPU tessellation?

-Pascal

It is that yes. I haven’t had the issue yet this week - it’s really intermittent. Will try post again if it returns.
