RhinoMCP Plugin Not Detected - Update: It's Running Smoothly w/ 26B model

Hi everyone. Hope all is well with you.

I tried RhinoMCP on my laptop, but the packagemanager installation doesn’t seem to recognize the installation after it was installed properly. Here’s the detail of my systeminfo:

I had completely uninstalled Rhino and all its traces, including registry records, then had a fresh Rhino installation and RhinoMCP but RhinoMCP keeps on being unrecognized after each installation attempt and restart.

Kindly guide me to solve this encountered issue. My highest appreciation in advance.

Really appreciate the update on the getting started page. However I’m still struggling to enable the RhinoMCP in my ROG Flow X16.

In contrary, I have my Flow X13 and RhinoMCP can be installed and loaded. This, confuses me so much

There are a number of Rhino MCP’s in play, the Rhino-MCP-Platform is what i have installed.

Yessss!!! Just found the root cause after 2.5 hours straight tracing it.

After sorting the possible causes of this “unable to load RhinoMCP”, I found that RhinoMCP runs under NetCore. It runs well after using NetCore.

I’ll just need to connect it to local LLM now. Woohoooo!!! Next phase challenge. I love it!

May be this passion for Rhino that makes me keep moving forward in big loving it!

I just noticed that after cleaning up earlier Rhino installation with all parameter and residu, and reinstall Rhino 8 again, all content in folders for environment, material etc. are empty

Tried to run DownloadLibraryTextures, and it downloaded somoethings. However, environment is still empty.

Is there any download link for it to restore every single content? Tried to find through web search, no luck yet.

A repair install should get you back to default. (via add or remove programs>Rhino>Modify>repair)

I remember that the environment consisted fo many environment defaults like Automotive Studio lighting etc. But it was no longer there.

Hi Japhy. I addressed the fix!

I kept on installing Rhino latest (8.31). It doesn’t contain all the content libraries (environment, etc.). Luckily I have Rhino 8.29. When I saw both files, I noticed that 8.29 is 679MB while latest (8.31) only 649MB.

I immediately installed the 8.29 and all contents are back!

Woohooo!! Everyting works like a charm now. So, keep Rhino 8.29 for “restoring” Rhino after a complete wipe out, everyone. Before you update it online, later on. Hope no other issue surfaces

The laptop is now able to use local Gemma 4 26B locally, only using 6GB of VRAM. Alhamdulillah.

However, I need to address the very each step again from scratch in order for me to remember it There were so many steps to address any surfacing issues since 13 hours ago and finally made it to work in my old Flow X16, nicely. Forgot the most as I haven’t taken any sleep at all.

Thanks McNeel for developing Rhino up to this stage. Been using many CAD and other 3D software but never experiencing any joy at this level
