Is there a start from zero class, teacher, or set of videos for RhinoLands? I have watched these videos multiple times, but steps are skipped between importing terrain and having a completed project.
I have watched these videos fully. When watching video 2: Terrain modeling tools, the video goes from importing terrain to a completed project. My first issue is the file shown in the video to open and work on isn’t available when I look in that file location. The second is, it shows a completed project. I have watched this video five times and do not understand it. I am looking for a step by step from zero, and this video definitely does not show that. It may seem quite obvious what to do as the company that built it, but from my point of view, it is missing huge gaps of the process.
Hi @Travis_Unruh thanks for your feedback!
The video tutorial that shows the Lands Design terrain modeling tools is divided into different chapters. In the first and second chapters you can see different options to import terrains in Rhino with Lands Design (with the laEarthScan command or the laImportDEM command.).
The examples in these chapters are unrelated to the one used from chapter 3, which shows how to create a terrain from scratch (well, starting with some contour curves in the file you can download at the start of the page) and go through all the edit options and features of the terrain tool, step by step.
That chapter 3 starts by showing the final result of the project after going through the different video tutorials of Lands Design, just to give you an idea of how the terrain will look like.
This video tutorial was recorded with the Lands Design 5 version, so it doesn’t include some of the new features of the terrain tool in the last Lands Design 6.2 version. In any case, if you miss some parts, or find any explanation unclear, I’m interested to know which ones to do it better when we update this tutorial.
Thanks. What is the best location for trying to resolve my questions and issues?
I downloaded the file, went to step one, and my zone selection covers a significant portion of the elements, similar but not correct to the video. I deleted and redownloaded the file, but encountered the same issue. I screen recorded my current issue.

Hi @Travis_Unruh you can post your requests and questions here in the Forum, or write us directly to rhinolands@asuni.com
I’ve tested what you report in the video, and it fails also in my case. We will revise that file, because in previous versions it used to work fine.
@Travis_Unruh I’ve noticed that this action works fine in Lands Design for Rhino 7 with the same file. Also, if you try to fill that area with a hatch in Rhino 8, the same problem occurs, while in Rhino 7 it works fine.
So this problem must be related to how hatches are generated in Rhino 8. We will investigate it further and get back if we find a solution.
