RhinoElectric - Electric Schematic Plugin Need?

Hello Everyone! I wonder if there is any need for a electric schematic design plugin in the community.

So, here is the RhinoElectric. Potential EPlan like plugin concept.

RhinoElectric is a early-phase plugin concept to search if there is any need for an electric schematic plugin in the Rhinoceros community.

Rhino is already strong in 3D design, it would be nice to handle electric schematic works as well without leaving the program.

This early-phase plugin provides below initial features:

- Inserting symbols with preview

- Building custom library of symbols for each user/company

- Adding potential connection points on grid, with preview

- Building page layout with details and title block

If you have any questions or suggestions, it is highly welcome.

Dear All, New Update: 600+ Electrical Symbols Added

Hi @tahirhan,
very impressive plugin — the workflow looks super useful.
I’m definitely interested and would be happy to test it and provide feedback if you need testers.
Keep it up!

Hi @Nico_Matzke,

Thank you for your motivating words! I am planning to add some basic features and then publish the plugin for the beta phase. I will inform you of the release. Kind Regards

Dear All,

RhinoElectric is published! You can download & install it from food4rhino: https://www.food4rhino.com/en/app/rhino-electric?lang=en

I will be glad to hear feedback & feature requests.

Dear All,

I want to inform you about the new update: Pin texts & Edit Symbol command

Dear All,

A small but useful feature, the eHelp command, has been added to the plugin. A list of available commands and short descriptions about them is shown to the user with the eHelp command. There is also a search field in the window to find what you are looking for.

Available to download from food4rhino or directly from the website.

Dear All,

Yet another feature for RhinoElectric to cover all possible needs for designing electrical schematics in Rhino: the eAddBoundary command.

Would be glad to hear if there are any feature requests.

RhinoElectric is available to download from food4rhino or directly from the website.

Kind Regards

You can add the capabilities of caneco with those of eplan inside your add-in, since it is also schema based (but caneco only draws one line diagrams).

With some simple electric equations based on the impedance method and with the total S, P and Q power load it is possible to dimension electric cables.

Also networkX can be usefull coupled with electric LV circuits as centrality and betweenness could define optimal panel placement and cable routing

I’m testing a workflow with annotated dxf files as 3d skeleton, the objectif would be having a parametric workflow.

I still have to try rhino … not yet experienced, only using Inventor and sometimes Revit and of course my favorite sverchok

To be honest, I think 300€ is a bit expensive … I would like to have at least a power balance with the schematics.

How do you handle BOM and costs ?

Dear @Hans_H1 ,

Thank you for your valuable feedback!

I will investigate the subjects you have pointed out.

For BOM and cost estimation, I have to add a library for marketplace parts to define correspondences for the symbols in schematics. I also have plans for these implementations.

:+1:

Maybe I’ll try this later
