RhinoCycles not using RTX 5070 Ti (Desktop) — no GPU tabs appearing

Hi, I’m having an issue where Rhino Render (Cycles) only shows CPU in the device list and won’t use my GPU.

System:

  • Rhino 8 SR32 (8.32.26160.13001)
  • Windows 11
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti (Desktop, 16GB VRAM)
  • Driver: 610.62 (June 11 2026)
  • 64GB RAM

What I’ve tried:

  • Updated to latest NVIDIA Studio Driver (610.62)
  • Set Rhino.exe to High Performance GPU in Windows Graphics Settings
  • Rhino’s System Information correctly identifies the 5070 Ti

What happens:
The Rhino Render device settings only shows a CPU tab — no CUDA or OptiX tabs appear at all. CPU usage hits 97% during renders while GPU sits at 2%.

I saw a similar report from a laptop 5070 Ti user (nilceros) where it was assigned to Lars. Is this the same issue affecting desktop cards? Is there a fix or workaround in progress?

surely there has to be right?:sob::crossed_fingers:t3::folded_hands:t2:

Thanks Guys!

Someone said try tagging @lars so here goes nothing:folded_hands:t2::crossed_fingers:t3::pleading_face:

If you change the category of your post to Rendering and tag @lars you may get lucky

Thanks for the advice. I just edited the post…

Wish me luck…

I meant the category, not the tag (:

Did I do it right this time?

Better (:

Hi @Nick_Namazian,

could you do the following please:

  1. Send me a Rhino System Report
  2. Close Rhino
  3. Clean install of latest NVIDIA driver (choose Custom install and enable the Clean Install checkbox).
  4. Delete the content of %APPDATA%\McNeel\Rhinoceros\8.0\Plug-ins\RhinoCycles (9bc28e9e-7a6c-4b8f-a0c6-3d05e02d1b97)\data and %APPDATA%\NVIDIA\ComputeCache

Do the CUDA and Optix tabs show up?

Thanks.
-Lars

I am getting this same issue with not being able to ‘see’ the CUDA or Optix tabs using the latest version of NVIDIA (studio) driver on a Dell Inspiron 16 plus 7640. I have eveI disabled the Intel GPU, restarted Rhino and ran SystemInfo and the output doesn’t even identify a CUDA capable device. Were you able to fix your issue?

It would be helpful to see your SystemInfo, even if you cannot see anything obvious.
