Maybe read from Rhino on Linux? - #221 by cryinkfly onwards, there are many posts back and forth. @cryinkfly did some work on getting Rhino installed. I haven’t been able to, but according the videos it should be possible.
I’ve been waiting years for Rhinoceros to run on Linux. If I won the lottery I would most likely pay McNeel to develop it 100% as a Linux based platform purely for everyone’s sanity. Why might you ask?
Between every corporate niche stabbing each other in the back every 3 months and escalating in every aspect… i.e can’t even get basic mouse from Microsoft, Windows, Dell, HP, Apple, Android, iOs, etc… compatible to work across platforms let alone stable hardware support for video card acceleration. Tech industry as a whole has chopped off it’s metaphorical limbs, eyes, and nose to spite its own face in the name of proprietary ego masturbation. The entire premise of ISO standards has been tossed out in every sense. The tech industry today is 20% as stable and useful as it was 15 years ago and that’s being generous! Ultimately the creativity and beauty of utilization can’t even make it to the toilet and be worth the water to flush it. I’ve kept air gapped PC’s in sealed containers just to spare myself the endless rabbit hole failures of the entire industry. I replaced motherboard batteries and fired them up using old legacy software far more successfully in terms of time, resources, and effort for even bothering investigation to get current systems to work together!
Peel the bandaids off and dump these corporate failures already! They aren’t paying for the headaches let alone the retraining and maintenance requirements. The idiocy is exponentially increasing every year.
Colleges even remotely taking the basic concepts of meaningful education seriously should have dumped Microsoft 10 years ago. Intelligent use of intellectual property investment for one human being is cast aside every 6 months. Meaningful use of our time is a joke.
So, here I am begging for the love of simple sanity. Get the best software vendors like McNeel to dump the proprietary corporation OS platforms and utilize the Linux community! At least take back control of our creative processes as meaningful human beings trying to build and create things instead of misleading people with the latest technobabbling vaporware scam ridden nonsensical lack of objectivity or purpose beyond funneling humanity through a fake voicemail jail support system for products that constantly fail while claiming they are the best choice for anything else but ritual suicide of our sense of purpose in the face of abject futility.
Just turn on a machine that works reliably for the sake of an honest sense of purpose beyond products training us to wet nurse them before ever having done the simple task they were purchased for. A tool
Yawn…
Counterpoint:

After Microsoft’s latest move (Copilot and Recall) there is a massive exodus from Windows. I’m in the process of it now, and with all the software applications I need to use, only Rhino is holding me back. I hope they are paying attention and just get it done already.
Wait, there’s two of these threads? Shouldn’t they be merged?
I’ll lock this one to redirect readers to the one you just linked.
