Rhino won't update

Hi all

My Rhino is stuck on SR18 and when i go to check for new updates on the help menu the whole panel is greyed out and nothing is clickable. The box in that tab reads “McNeel update service is unavailable” even though it is running in ‘Services’ on Windows.

Have rummaged online for a solution but haven’t had much luck.

Anyone know what to do about this?

Please download and install the latest.

Thanks

I’ve just re-installed and it is now on SR27 but that update tab is still showing the same unavailable message plus greyed out buttons.

Any way to activate auto updates?

Go to Document Properties or type in Options into the command line.

Mine looks like this

Is your update services running?

Yes just checked

Are you running any anti-virus software/ window user account control that would block the required port? or the registry entry from being set?

I see several possible solutions from previously reported issues.

Not to my knowledge and I’ve looked for the registry and cannot seem to find it anywhere within the Mcneel folders.

Lets make sure your install is OK.

close Rhino
go to add/remove programs and Modify the install and select the Repair option. This will require a reboot.

The key is located here, please check after the Repair install.

Ok the registry edit seems to have allowed me to click on buttons in the update tab but I still have “Service is unavailable” in the message box

Progress! Close Rhino and go back to Windows Services and see if McNeel Update Service is Running. If so go ahead and stop it and restart it. Then restart Rhino.

That did the trick! Thank you very much Japhy much appreciated.
