Rhino V8 for Mac can’t make specific line length

I purchased Rhino 5 for Mac a few years ago and it recently updated to V8. I’m trying to do something very simple, which is draw a line at 30’-0”. I am unable to specify a length longer than 9’-0”. Once a length specification becomes double digits the command line won’t process the input of a double or triple digit number. Seems like a very strange glitch for something so simple! Anyone know what to do? Thanks!

Hi Ella -

I can’t reproduce that problem here. Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the result here.
-wim

Here is the info from the Rhino SystemInfo Command. Thanks for trying to help. I’m still unable to specify a line greater than 9 feet in the command line. When I start to type a second digit the command line automatically clears and resets. The only way I can draw a line is by dragging the curser in the desired direction until the info bar at the bottom reflects the desired length. This is really hard to do when you need specific measurements though. Thanks!

Hi Ella -

The current stable version of Rhino 8 is SR10! Please update your installation.
-wim

So, I updated to the newest version and I am still having the issue. When I check on the units I am in feet and I have distance display set to feet and inches. I cannot type in a length longer than a single digit.

@Ella_Thompson did you manage to find the solution to this? I too am having the same issue.
If I press multiple keys at the same time I can create a longer length e.g ‘145’ and very sporadically it will let me type a longer numberical sequence.
Very odd, it’s true for extruding and moving things with gumball too.
Any help much appreciated!

Hi Wim,

I’m having the same issue so thought it best to post the same info

Solved!

Issue: It seems to be a small bug when making the command panel a floating panel on Mac.
Solution: Pin the command panel into the toolbar

I’ll attach screenshots of the before and after for whoever stumbles upon the same error

solved

I had the same problem—only single digits work as they should. What’s weird is that double digits work if I press the number buttons extremely fast, one after the other. And yes, it’s related to the floating command panel.
