Greetings. I am trying to track down a lag issue that has been driving me batty.
After rhino has been running for a while (week or so) i start to get UI lag. it will stick for a second then get back to working. does this every few min. only way to fix seems to be a full reboot. closing all rhino sessions does not seem to fix. am working mostly in 2d lines; in wire frame mode.
happens with both rhino 5 and 6 (mostly use 5 cuz am old and do not want change); as of getting forced onto win 10
Please run the V6 SystemInfo command and post the results.
This will give us a good overview of what resources Rhino sees.
Thanks
And, if you close and reopen Rhino, does the problem go away?
-Pascal
closing all rhino sessions does not fix. sometimes if am lucky an older session will work fine but new sessions have the glitch
below is sysinfo

Hello -
How many sessions are active at once?
If you close all Rhinos and start a new session, is that ever a problem?
Do you regularly keep sessions open for a week?
-Pascal
usually 2-6 instances of rhino. depends on project load. more projects more rhino.
i will have a file open as long as a project is going. never shutdown or reboot the computer if i can help it.
i think it is partly something to do with windows. never had a problem on win7.
only fix seems to be a full reboot.
Hi -
I’m with you on that one, but I do see overall (that is, not Rhino-specific) performance degradation over time and just need to reboot to get things (Chrome, Windows Explorer, Word, etc…) running again. I’m afraid that you’ll just have to do that once in a while.
-wim
I can not be the only person that thinks reboot is un-acceptable solution. Am i the only one that thinks win 10 is going to the bad old days of win95? next thing is going to be reinstall the computer every 6 months.
miss my linux… uptime 400+ days being normal…
it’s back to acting up…
how do i track things lagging in rhino?
this is driving me batty and reboot is not an option right now.
any diagnostic console or logs i can see what is not responding quickly?
gotta be something. is it ram? did windows push rhino onto the vram? is it graphics drivers being dumb? disk access time/
rhino is doing something every 30 seconds or so. it laggs out the ui.
- Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and send those results.
- How many monitors are you running?
- Is this a laptop or a desktop?
- How are the monitors connected to the computer?
- Are your files stored on the local computer?
Thanks
