Rhino resets all user settings

Hello!

I’ve encountered an issue where ALL settings in Rhino 8 are reset.
Everything; Aliases, Display Modes, Appearance… All settings i’ve made in _DocumentProperties are lost, which is extremely annoying and counter productive.

I do have Aliases and Display Modes saved so they can be reloaded but this is still not a sustainable workflow on the long run.

The problem also accured in Rhino 7, but the upgrade to 8 didn’t resolve it.

I’m not sure what data to provide, but let me know if anything could help to solve the problem.

Any info or fixes regarding this?

Thanks!

Best, Mikkel

Hi Mikkel,

I’m not recalling any recent reports of similar behavior, please run SystemInfo in Rhino and post the results. Thanks

When is this happening, is it repeatable? can you repeat with no 3rd party plugins enabled?

It happens randomly. When I used Rhino 7, i think it happened 3-4 times, over at couple of years.
For Rhino 8 it only just happened for the first time since upgrading back in February.
So no, unfortunately it is not something I can provoke, at least I don’t know how to… Whether the plug-ins affect this, I cannot say.
It seems hard to test, as months can go by with no issues.

Not much to go on here, I know

Thanks for letting us know, any information is always appreciated. If a pattern emerges we can go from there.

Thank you for the quick response.

Hello Japhy.

The issue still persists.

All my Rhino 8 settings has reset twice within a week.
First time I was at lunch, and when I came back to my computer, all settings (aliases, appearance, view modes… Everything) was reset.
I had a file open at the time, so here there was no closing or opening of the program just out of nowhere.
Second time (today), I was making adjustments to my template, and when I re-started Rhino to see the changes, boom… - everything was reset again.

Have you encountered other cases with this problem?
Can we do anything to look into this?

Thanks,
Mikkel
