After rhino 8 update to (8.4.24044.15001) lost settings shortcuts, snaps, tables etc.
Hi Tomas -
Which version of Rhino did you update from? Was this an update that was automatically downloaded?
Please run the Rhino SystemInfo
command and copy-paste the result here.
-wim

And this is the first time you lost your settings in an update?
Can you think of anything that might have changed on your system?

Before all was ok. Removed rhino 7 shortcut from start menu (it was uninstalled long before), but doubt this could have done anything.
I have had the same experience after Rh8 update (but cannot pin-point the exact moment when this happened).
Lost Aliases and Template settings at least on Rh7. Basically all Rh7 settings reset to “factory settings”.
I have not yet touched Rh8 settings at all.
I’ve updated Rh8 (8.3.24009.15001) and VisualARQ 3 (3.0.3.18206) as well.
EDIT also updated Vray (6.20.02).
Having the same experience.
Yesterday Rhino asked me if I wanted to update, I happily accepted.
When I opened Rhino everything was restored to default settings.
The current version is:
Rhino 8 SR10 2024-8-15 (Rhino 8, 8.10.24228.13001
Apparently from the previous version to this one.
I always update this way and this has never happened to me before.
I have Rhino installed on another computer, I would appreciate help on how to transfer the settings from the other computer.
Version 8 SR10
(8.10.24228.13001, 2024-08-15)
Had this happen again this so f… annoying i set up soooo many things… f…
Hi Miriam -
That depends on the exact settings that you’d want to transfer. You can use the OptionsExport
and OptionsImport
commands, but you could also try to copy the %appdata%\McNeel\Rhinoceros\8.0\settings
folder from one PC to the other [I’d rename the orginal “settings” folder on the target PC first to have a backup of things].
