I’m using rhino renderer as my render engine. The only thing I dislike about it is the limited types of materials. Is there a place to download/buy more materials for rhino renderer?
try food4rhino.com
Thanks, ive looked there, but there are only a few.
You may have seen the materials collection in the Libraries panel within Rhino 5 for Windows but if not, check it out. There aren’t a lot of features for the v5 Rhino Render basic material but those included in the library show a range of effects that are possible. After you understand the basic texture channels, you can make new materials from any image texture. Texture mapping is then the next thing to master for more control over your materials.
Can you point us to a tutorial covering this function? Thanks.
Here’s a video covering where the controls are for texture mapping and the basics of the different styles. I think a more advanced one would be good to do as well focusing on Unwrap and custom mapping objects… I’ll try and put something together.
Thanks for that. Very useful - especially the last section where you demonstrate how to use the object’s geometry to create a custom projection shape. Is that something unique to Rhino? I don’t see the ability to do that in modo or c4d. Really a great technique.
I’m not sure… but the thing I like the best is that if you rebuild that custom UV surface, you’re controlling the texture mapping by way of it’s control point spacing.
