Rhino print to pdf not to scale

This is a serious issue for me. I’m printing out architectural plans and the detail scale that I am setting is very off. I did a test with an 8.5x11 paper with 4 details showing a 4’x4’ square. 1/8"=1’, 1/4"=1’, 3/8"=1’ and 1/2"=1’. They are all small. The larger square is only 1-3/8".

This is causing serious issues for my business as I can’t trust Rhino to output accurate drawings now.

Please advise.

Hello -is scaling set 1:1 in the Print control?

-Pascal

yes it is.

Hello - if I print from as pdf file to paper, the default here is to print at 95% - I did not touch this control. So maybe check what the process from pdf to paper is doing.

And when you actually print the PDF itself?
Is that set to 100% or no scaling?

This is happening not just with my home printer but for my print shop printing 24x36 ARCH D prints. I’ll check the setting here.

Whoa. So my home printer is scaling to 93%. Why would it do that when I export an 8.5x11 file? And… so… are print shops also misprinting then???

Separate settings.
To get the right scale on paper the originating application AND the production printing tool BOTH need to be set to 100%

You could also produce a set of 22x34 PDFs in Rhino and print them at 50% to create 11x17 “half size” prints. We used to do that all the time for field prints.

That’s a great idea. Thanks so much everyone. I was about to start drinking early.

That is always a good approach Bren! Drink Early, Drink Often!
