Rhino Modeler Needed – Abstract Ribbon Sculpture for 3D Printed Maquette

Hello,

I’m looking for an experienced Rhino modeler to help create a clean 3D model of an abstract ribbon sculpture for a physical maquette (approx. 10–12 inches tall).

The sculpture consists of several continuous ribbon-like bands rising from a compact base, looping through space, crossing one another, and returning toward the base — somewhat like a fountain of flowing ribbons.

The goal is to translate a concept rendering into a clean Rhino model suitable for 3D printing.

Deliverables:

  • Rhino file (.3dm)

  • STL suitable for printing

  • Simple preview renders for review

Experience with curved surface modeling, architectural geometry, or sculptural forms would be ideal.

Please include examples of similar surface or sculptural modeling work.

Thank you,
Bob

I’m in Italy but I’ve already good experience on this kind of things

This is the promotional video of a 12mt installation we made for the Italian pavilion at Dubai Expo.

And this a ( real) photo of the final installation.

The color depends on the image projected from the videoled wall

The shape was made using a grasshopper script, then converted into solids and produced

Bob,

I’ve been doing this exact thing for artist Hunter Brown https://www.instagram.com/innovativesculpture?igsh=NXkxandwMnJyZTU=. I even have some premade tools to design with curves, reduce twist, unroll for laser cutting, etc. I’m based in St. Louis, Mo but I prefer to work on discord. Reach out here or @avanmater on discord

can help u :waving_hand:

If you are still looking, I can do this for you, I have used Rhino for 26 years, send me a PM if you are still looking

Hi Andy,

Thank you for reaching out—I really appreciate it.

I did move forward with another modeler for the Ribbon Sculpture, but it didn’t quite achieve what I had envisioned. This is my first time working in this space, so it’s been a learning experience.

Seeing the work you’ve done in collaboration with Hunter Brown is exactly the direction I had hoped to go—it really resonates with the kind of sculptural language I’m exploring.

Right now I’m developing a body of work based on my sketches translated into 3D representations, with the goal of presenting them to galleries. If that gains traction, I would absolutely be interested in working with you to bring one of the pieces into a refined Rhino model and physical form.

I’ll definitely stay in touch as things progress.

Best, Bob
