Hello, I bought a new computer and ever since Rhino always displays “Cancel: CUDA binary kernel for this graphics card compute capability (8.9) not found. 0h 0m 0.1s.” after this it shows “Render ready 1 samples”. I can’t seem to get around this problem by changing the default graphics driver. The machine I’m using has a Geforce RTX 4070 so i doubt this is the problem as on my old computer with RTX 1050 it worked without a problem. If anyone has experienced this issue and knows how to help please do. Thank you for your time.
This is an error you’ll see on Rhino 7 - on Rhino 8 you won’t see that specific error.
Having the same issue. I’m beginning to think it’s a 4070 driver issue. Still trying to trouble shoot on my end, did you figure anything out?
With Rhino 8?
on rhino 7
Rhino 7 currently hasn’t CUDA binaries for your GPU. I’ll see tomorrow if I can get one built.
Is there a list of supported graphics cards for Rhino 7?
Actually, the RTX 4070 should work. I have tested with RTX 6000 Ada gen, which is based on the same microarchitecture as the RTX 4070.
Rhino 7 doesn’t come with binary specifically for the architecture, but it is capable of compiling from the PTX files that ship with it. It will take a moment for Cycles to compile the actual binary version of the kernel, but it should work.
Make sure you have the very latest GPU driver installed (using clean install method via custom installation of driver installer program).
Supported NVidia cards include essentially everything from Maxwell-based cards to whatever the latest is.
Hi Nathan, I did a clean install of the most recent drives from Nvidia and am still getting the below error when trying to render in Rhino7
NVIDIA RTX 3500 Ada Generation Laptop GPU
Please post the result of the Rhino command _SystemInfo

You need to update to the latest service release. That has the necessary support for your GPU.
Working now, thanks for the help an patience with me!
Have fun rendering with Rhino
