I’m using Rhino 6 and it is constantly crashing my mac. The file I’m using is small and it doesn’t happen on any particular command. I don’t see the spinning ball, it just freezes randomly and I can’t even click my trackpad. I thought it may be a problem with my mac but I downloaded it on another mac and the same thing is happening. I’ve tried making a new file. Any ideas?

The fact the you say the same thing happens on two macs is suggestive of a “Rhino Problem” BUT the problem you describe sounds like an operating system problem. I have seen Rhino crashes but they are infrequent. I have also seen a lot of problems in Rhino that clearly were the result of system bugs.
Are the two macs the same model? Are they running the same operating system?
Someone else just reported a similar problem here:
One common them is that you are both using Intel (Yuk) graphics processors.
The other report said the problem occurred after “upgrading” to Catalina. Are you running Catalina?
I’m having the same problem, Mac and trackpad freezes completely. I’m running Catalina 10.15.4 on Mac Model Identifier: MacbookPro 12,1
Hi - I’ve created RH-58327 to track this issue.
So far, this seems to only affect systems running on the Intel HD 6000 and Intel Iris Graphics 6100 GPUs.
Please let us know if you find a specific workflow that triggers the freezing of the system.
@aer8443, could you post your complete Rhino SystemInfo
?
-wim
Thanks for your response - yes they are both the same model and have the latest Catalina update. There is no particular flow of work that seems to trigger it, just completely random.
When Rhino crashes, does the Rhino crash reporter come up?
If so, do you send in a crash report with your email address and a description of what you were trying to do at the time?
No, the whole laptop completely freezes - no spinning ball, can’t move the mouse or click the trackpad. I have to turn off the laptop and start it again. There’s no crash report
My suspicion is Rhino freezing but not crashing is a symptom of a general system problem related to your old Mac.
Without a repeatable command sequence we can use to duplicate the problem, we have nothing to work with.
Sorry, we’re just stuck.
