Rhino BETA Feature: Align Clipping Drawings

Clipping drawings can now be aligned so that separate drawings keep their correct relative positions, instead of each being placed independently. This is useful when:

  • You use several clipping planes to cut different parts of a model and want to compose the results into a single drawing that reflects their true relative locations.
  • You want to stack drawings from parallel clipping planes cutting through the same model, while preserving the real distances between them.

To use it, run AlignClippingDrawings, pick a source drawing to align to, then select the target drawings. Turn on the Stack option to also offset each target by the distance between its clipping plane and the source’s, so parallel sections are stacked at their true relative elevations.

You can download the WIP… to try this feature. Let us know what you think.

In this video, developer Rajaa Issa @rajaa covers important details about this feature.

Try It:

  1. Download the Rhino BETA.
  2. Download and open Try It - Align Sections.3dm
