For anyone trying to create custom toolbar icons from .svg files I found that Rhino would reject any custom .svg file that wasn’t saved with “Responsive” unchecked (this is from illustrator).
Posting this here in case it helps anyone.

I prepare them in Photoshop and mine are rejected too. But the problem is that there isn’t any Responsive option in PS. However, I could make them accepted by converting them via an online converter. Does anyone have a workaround to directly export from Photoshop?
