Looks like an updated 8.7 candidate was able to fix @anon’s issue. If anyone else is having this issue with 8.7 we can get you updated to the latest 8.7 which does have this issue resolved.
Here’s another example of a slow, sluggish R8 panel. Trying to resize the Options dialog after I did a search in Advanced for “color” is super laggy.
For reference, here’s R7 doing the same. Very little lag:
What do you think? Should I buy a new computer to run R8?
What do you think? Should I buy a new computer to run R8?
One more example. I somehow left myself with no panels on the left or right, and right clicking the blank gray bars there doesn’t seem to offer any options, so I ran the container command. Ignoring for a moment why I have two Osnap “containers”, here’s what happens when I try to resize the Containers window at will.
I promise I’m not being cheeky when I ask if I should buy a new computer if I want to run R8 without feeling stuck in the mud (except viewports in Shaded mode, which are super fast and improved). What do you guys think? I seem to be in the minority here…

hi @anon this is not normal behavior, I don’t see any of that lagging here, not even the slightest. I’ll ask around if someone is able to repeat this behavior.
New one. Working on the laptop without an external monitor, I dragged the Layouts tab and tried to dock it on the right side of the window. Purple highlighting now plastered on the Rhino window, and no layout tab displayed, and the purple persists over SOME Windows windows but minimizes/maximizes with Rhino.
Black snipping tool pen over confidential layer names.
I can’t express how frustrating this is. Can’t use R8 at all at this point.

hi @anon I’m sorry that you are being plagued with various display issues. I think that your system is particularly affected. From what I have heard the P2000 isn’t a great card, but it’s not clear why it performs so much worse in Rhino 8 than in Rhino 7.
I tried exactly this with my Rhino 8 and I don’t see any lag at all, even less than your Rhino 7.
EDIT:
just tried your “containers” example as well, also looks like zero lag here.
RH-81506 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 7.
