Rhino 8 Throwing Off Windows Mouse Size

Hello,

One additional glitch I’d like to report with Rhino 8 is that it seems to throw off the Windows custom mouse size at random times. As a low vision user this can slow me down quite a bit as I have to go back to the Windows settings and reset my pointer size.

Best,
Paul

Hi Paul - I take it this is ‘Mouse pointer size’ in control panels?

Initially at least, this seems to work - can you pin down any action that messes it up?
Does V8 behave differently from V7?

Hi Pascal, this is correct. Usually it just resets back to size 1, and then if I move the slider in the settings back up and down it goes back to size 4 where I’d previously had it. Usually the slider is still at size 4 but the mouse is small, and then it jumps back up when I adjust the slider.

I’ll try to figure out when exactly this seems to happen and post it here.

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul - I could not reproduce that here so far - I had a larger mouse pointer on for a couple of days and it did not vary.

Hey Pascal,

I finally caught this error and was able to replicate it several times. The mouse would shrink when I opened a file that had the error message: “File uses a font not found on this computer” from Google Drive.

Best,
Paul

Hi Paul - can you please attach one of those files here?

Hi Brian,

Sure, here is the file that I found it on. I’ve pasted a G-Drive link because the file is large.

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul - thanks - so far I am still not able to repeat this - still poking at it. Incidentally, if you SaveSmall, this file is only 8 MB.

OK, I got it now… weird. So far this only happens with a new installation (update)

It’s interesting. I’ve only noticed it with that file recently, but if it comes up again and there’s a clear connection between the two files I’ll post it here for reference. Hopefully it’s just a weird isolated thing.
