After downloading macOS Tahoe 26.0, there has been issues with Osnap during commands like PolyLine (snapping to Near, End, Int, etc) to 2D or 3D geometry. If I’m in multi view, the Osnap works as expected, but when I go full screen in any view, the pointer freezes and doesn’t snap to anything. I had no issues like this with macOS Sequoia 15.6.1 running Version 8 (8.23.25251.13002, 2025-09-08). Hope this gets fixed soon
!
I can confirm this issue with snapping after updating OS. In fact, there is a similar issue with SimCity Ultimate with the road snapping too.
I have been doing some testing…if you go to System Settings > Accessibility > Display and turn on “Reduce Transparency”… this seems to be a work around at the moment for me.
Can you please post your SystemInfo here so we can take a look? (I suspect you are using an Intel Mac) and this is a case of: Two regressions on Intel Macs running macOS Tahoe …but I’d like to verify that.
This is very helpful. Thank you for investigating and mentioning this. I am virtually certain now we’re referring to the same regressions.
A note for others that find this topic:
After enabling System Settings > Accessibility > Display > Reduce Transparency, Quit and Restart Rhino for Mac.
I am currently using a Silicon based Mac. M1 Pro base specs with 16 gb of RAM
Interesting. With more testing, I can now reproduce this on an Apple Silicon Mac too - it’s much more apparent the more OSnaps you turn on.
I apologize. I don’t think I’ve actually reproduced this issue here. I was mistaken. Can you please provide us with really detailed steps of what you are doing to see the buggy behavior?
I have the same problem. I’m using a M4 chip and 16 GB RAM.
- open a project with 3d or 2d elements
- enter split view (when multiple views like top, right, left, etc.) are visable
- With commands like PolyLine, Osnap will work as expected
- enter full screen view, which can be any one view
- Osnap will begin to freeze after running a command like PolyLine that needs a reference point. The pointer will often freeze in place, not being able to snap to elements, and sometimes “un freezing“ and snapping to something for a brief moment until freezing again.
I can try making a screen recording if that will be of better help.
In my case the problem seems to appear randomly. In window and in fullscreen mode, multi view or single view. Changing the mode view (shaded, ghosted, rendered, etc) the problem persist. I reduced the system transparency, but nothing happens. As I mentioned before, I have a chip M4 with a 16 GB RAM. Here I share a screen capture.

Thanks for the detailed description. I believe I’m doing what you are doing and I still cannot reproduce it. Yes, I think a screen-recording would be helpful.
@dan Gabriel’s video captures our issues very well
Hi.
Same issue here using Rhino 7 (7.38.24338.17002, 2024-12-03).
Using a M1 Ultra MacBook Pro that was updated to Tahoe (regrettably) two days ago.
The exact same issue happens whenever I try using the Polyline function in full window.
Please fix this as it completely interrupts the workflow. The cursor snaps randomly to the nearest point it can find, and won’t budge from there until I actually click on the desired spot… It ends up snapping where I want it to be, but this feeling of “throwing darts in the dark” is not how this whole software should run.
Thanks!
Hi Olivier, there are changes to the latest MacOS that will not be compatible with Rhino 7, you’ll want to roll back if you wish to continue using Rhino 7.
We are - of course - looking into this, but note that Tahoe is also not on the list of supported systems for Rhino 8! We have to make sure it works for Rhino 9…
-wim
Hello, good morning. Just out of curiosity, I tried Rhino 9 WIP, and it has the same problem with the snap. On another note and slightly disagreeing with @Wim, Rhino’s website marks Rhino 8 as compatible with macOS Tahoe (I’m attaching a screenshot).
Rhino 8 still has an active service release schedule and can be adapted to changes in the latest MacOS, Rhino 7 not so much.
Hi Japhy,
I understand where you are coming from. Rest assured, the issue is also present in Rhino 8.
Thanks!
