Rhino 8: Layout Seizes Up with new GH Bake Component

Hi,

The new Rhino 8 ‘Rhino’ Grasshopper components for annotations and ‘live’ baking are really terrific - I was just watching @AndyPayne 's tutorial from AECtech 2023 and I’m really looking forward to using these in the future. I think they will be incredibly helpful.

One small issue I’ve run into though:

When using the new GH-Bake component to add text to a Layout (for something like naming of sheets during a batch print, etc…) my Layout view ‘seizes up’ (not sure what to call it?). It’s still responsive, but super, super slow and only updates once a second or so - so panning, zooming, etc are not really working. If I turn ‘off’ the new Bake component, it all goes back to normal. Please see below for an example:

Adding text to a normal 3D model view works fine, with no noticeable impact on performance. It appears to only affect my Layout views.

Environment:

  • Macbook 2021, Apple M1 Max
  • OS 12.5.1 (Monterey)
  • Rhino Version 8 (8.1.23325.13002, 2023-11-21)

All the best,
@ed.p.may

Thanks for reporting this. This should be fixed in the next public 8.2 release.
