The subject line says it all. It boggles my mind, but does so consistently. Every single time without fail. Very odd and frustrating bug.
Probably not a bug.
Most likely it’s a problem with your computer setup.
Please run the Rhino “SystemInfo” command and post the result.
That will give up a good idea of the computer resources Rhino sees and hopefully something obvious will stick out and suggest a fix.
Thanks
Can you share a 3dm of the geometry you are trying to use to create a hatch? If we can repeat a crash, we should be able to fix the issue pretty quickly.
Hi @christlewis,
I’ve logged the issue so we can look into it.

Here’s the SystemInfo. I’m a bit hesitant to share the file as my work has some significant privacy policies.

Hi Chris the issue appears to be with generating previews for one or more of the 398 hatch pattern definitions in the file. I am reviewing your crash data and will issue a fix that should help in this scenario.
Just wondering if there are any updates on this?
Fixes are are first seen in the service release candidate that comes out on Tuesdays. So with luck this Tuesday, but most likely the next.
The developers sometimes will privately send you an early build for testing depending on how critical the issue and fix are.
RH-82935 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 10
Hm. This fix seems to have made a dent in the problem, but not actually solved it on my end.
I am now able to get about 1-2 hatches made with some lag between the command and the options window that follows.
However, on the drawing I am currently working on, every time I do a third hatch, the file crashes spectacularly once the command is entered, the program crashing before the hatch options window even opens.
I should note that these are not big elaborate hatches. Also, that this has been when working in layouts (I haven’t tried in model space).
Have you tried purging your unused hatches by running the Purge command and selecting Hatches? This should solve the issue until we can resolve the problem on your system.
Thanks. Yes, this helps.
