Rhino 8 "Extract Render Mesh" from displacement not working

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem…on an object with displacement (in Object Properties, not as a pbr material), the Extract Render Mesh command has stopped working for me. When I run the command, the result is a mesh version of the nurbs geo without the displacement. I use displacement with this command constantly in my workflow and it worked perfectly fine up until recently, so I’m puzzled. Does anyone have an idea of what could be going on? I desperately need this to work! Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion to update to the latest service release. I had been holding off because a couple colleagues had major issues with an update, and I couldn’t risk facing those issues in the middle of a job. Sounds like they have been resolve in subsequent SR’s, so I will go ahead and update and see if that fixes the issue I’m having.

Interestingly I discovered this workaround myself before seeing your message! It doesn’t time though, which is baffling. I’m also facing a similar issue with Mesh Outline…sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t…and I need it to work every time!

Hi @sef.nola,

In order to provide assistance, we are going to need a .3dm file along with instructions on what you are doing that isn’t working.

Thanks,

– Dale
