Rhino 8 Evaluation loads super slowly

I just downloaded Rhino 8 Evaluation and noticed that it loads extremely slowly, with the splash screen being shown for more than a minute before the program opened. I tried this several times. Disabling the RhinoCycles plug-in makes Rhino 8 Evaluation load near instantly. Not sure if other people had that particular issue, or it’s isolated to my system only. Rhino 8 BETA was much faster to load up until now (it expired today).
I don’t need Cycles anyway, so disabling it is no issue for me. However, I can imagine that it would be irritating to make Rhino load way too slow when the former is enabled.

I was about report the same thing, Rhino 8 is taking about 40 seconds to load the first time here. And yes, half of that time at least is RhinoCycles loading. I thought it might be my computer since I’m working on my laptop instead of my usual workstation. I do not have any non-standard plug-ins loaded.

In my opinion, the best solution would be if the programmers make it possible for the user to choose which plug-ins to automatically load after the program is already opened. They must be on hold during the splash screen. This way, Rhino’s startup will not feel sluggish.

I had such slow startups when files in the recent files list were no longer available.
Especially when a file on a network drive that had to wake up.

All of my files in the recent list are available and saved either in Drive D or on the desktop.

Logged as RH-78945 Rhino 8 Evaluation loads super slowly. I’m actually curious if the 8.3 release candidate that we’ll put out Tuesday already fixes this. We’ve done a lot of work to make the Cycles initialization happen asynchronously.

Definitely not fixed for me. Very slow to load and when navigating in raytraced view ,which is uber slow even for a basic box, there is some odd glitchy color that shows up. Anyone else?

Even the latest Rhino 8 evaluation (service release candidate) takes about 50-60 seconds to load for the first time after booting Windows 10.
