Latest Service Release made Rhino 8 incredibly slow

every operation now has a full second delay (panning, rotating, selecting, changing display modes, etc). it feels like using rhino on a 20 year old pc  it’s pretty much unusable!
Also tried installing the latest ‘Candidate’ and it’s the same.
any thoughts or help would be super!

Run the Rhino command SystemInfo and post the results.

I cannot replicate this with a similar setup.
Can you try without your installed plugins? Using safe mode would accomplish this nicely.

checked off all 3rd party plugins, didn’t help.
how do you run in safe mode again?
Thnx!

figured out starting in safe mode.
no change

You should be able to search the window start menu for it

Are you using a particular model or starting fresh? If you are can you share the model?

I tried opening a few different files I was working on just a day ago before the update…

this has prob been asked before, but possible to back-install an earlier serv release?

I’ll DM you a link to 8.9 as I need to clock off and I don’t want you to be stuck with a super slow Rhino for now

Your Nvidia driver is over a year old. It would be a good idea to update it even if it ends up not helping this issue.

thnx! I’ll try that

Any difference with updated drivers?

apparently windows said my drivers are up to date.
and yes the issue is still there

Do you use GeForce Experience software?

i’d also recommend any kind of software like CCleaner or https://www.drivereasy.com/ and take a deep look over the drivers

Your NVIDIA driver is out of date, despite what Windows may be reporting.

The current NVIDIA “Game Ready” driver for your RTX 2070 Super is:

GeForce Game Ready Driver

Version: 560.70 WHQL
Release Date: 2024.7.16
Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11
Language: English (US)
File Size: 695.43 MB

The current “Studio” driver is:

Version: 560.70 WHQL
Release Date: 2024.7.16
Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11
Language: English (US)
File Size: 695.52 MB

Did you restart Rhino after removing the check marks for the plug-ins?

Plug-ins remain loaded with the check marks are removed. The check marks only control the loading of plug-ins when Rhino start. If you did not restart Rhino after removing the check marks then you have not determined that the plug-ins are not a cause of the slow performance.

Numerous problems caused by CCleaner and similar have been reported in this forum.

i said to take a deep look over the drivers not disk-space clean.
You can use it to check outdated drivers and search them manually.

update: Rhino is now back to it’s normal speed. (pretty much without any change on my part)
still on 8.9.24
driver not updated yet

going to look into a few things before driver updates (don’t want to break anything again )
