Rhino 8: Display Lines in Parallels

Hi all,

I was just testing Rhino 8 to see if it would install and run on Parallels on my Mac M1. While it did install and boot up just fine, I am getting a funny display without any lines/edges of any sort? No matter what display mode I use, no lines are ever displayed for some reason? Surfaces themselves will show, but not their edges?

FWIW: Rhino 7 will run and display things just fine in Parallels. No issue there. Seems to be just with Rhino 8.

I know its not supported, but I just wonder if anyone else tried installing RH8 in Parallels yet? If anyone has any suggestions that would be much appreciated! Maybe its a setting I need to turn on/off someplace?

best,

Environment:

  • Macbook 2021, Apple M1 Max
  • macOS 13.6.1 (Ventura)
  • Parallels Desktop for Mac 19.1.1 (54734)
  • Windows 11 Home v 21H2 (22000.2538)
  • Rhino Version 8 (8.1.23325.13001, 2023-11-21)

Same issue. I have a M1 Max 16" MacBook Pro 64 gb. Running Sonoma 14.1. I can see the lines in Mac Rhino, but can not see them in Parallel. I assume a graphics card or driver issue. Is there an update in progress?

No, no update in progress, as Parallels is not supported. As the Mac Rhino and Windows Rhino interfaces get closer and closer, I expect there will be little if any effort made to have this work.

I forgot to add that in Rhino 7, lines appear normally in parallels…

Parallels is not supported. If it works, fine. If it doesn’t, well…
