Rhino 8 Ctrl+Shift click curve on surface not possible?

It worked fine in Rhino 7, but with Rhino 8, it’s not possible to click a curve on surface with ctrl + shift on ‘shade’ or ‘render’ view while works on ‘ghost’ view.

Just selecting a curve on surface in ‘shade’ or ‘render’ view works. Selection Menu pops up to select either the curve or surface.

However, once ctrl+shift is pressed down, the whole surface is gets already highlighted, and it’s not possible to select an indivudal curve.

Hello- can you please post an example?

Here’s a screen recording.
Trying to select a curve on surface works as expected, but at 00:03 I’m pressing down ctrl+shift, the surface gets already highlighted (even before clicking), and it’s not possible to select a curve.

Once I change the view to ‘ghost’ at 00:09, I can do sub-object click a curve with ctrl+shift.

Hello- the pink mouse-over highlight is not a selection, it indicates what will be selected if you click now. As far as I can see, Ctrl-Shift sub-object selction of a line in a rectangle lying on a surface works - if you have an example where it does not, that woulkd be useful to have.

Pascal,
Thanks for your prompt response. I should have explained that I have been using Rhino for many years, and I understand mouse-over highlight vs. actual selection. Perhaps I wasn’t explaining the issue clearly.

Could you please try to click ctrl+shift a single curve on a surface that’s on the same plane in ‘render’ or ‘shade’ mode? Does it work for you? It only works on ‘ghost’ view.

Hello- it does not, here, seem noticeably different than in V7. Which is why it might be helpful to have an example file.

I get one of these results as well as the surface selected sometimes, but not different than in V7.

The whole rectangle is highlighted in your screenshot. That is not ctrl+shift click for sub-object click?
Just clicking the whole curve works just fine, but ctrl+shift to click one single curve out of the rectangle that’s on the surface doesn’t work (at least for me).

This seems to be working here at least in shaded mode - if I ctrl+shift+click right on the curve, the segment lights up - if I’m further away, the surface is selected. I do get the multi-selection if I’m close but not right on. It does seem a bit “picky”, but V7 is more or less the same.

Rendered mode with curves visible activated seems the same also.

Thank you. I think I now saw your additional video showing selection of one line of a rectangle. It does seem easier on your video. I tried again on mine and found that it indeed worked. However, not as easy as I initially thought it should, or at least it seems a little off from the mouse cursor? I understand what @Helvetosaur meant by picky.
