Rhino 8 Crashing when trying to render

Rhino is crashing everytime I try to either render, or switch to rendered view. It crashes instantly. This is happening with even brand new files with just a simple cube / cylinder in it. This seems to have started happening since I updated to the latest Mac OS?

Version / system info is below.

Please try restarting your device. I have seen the same on my MacbookPro, and a restart helped it.

If it keeps being a problem you can try starting Rhino without opening a document then go Rhino 8 > Settings > Rhino Render. Set render device to CPU and restart Rhino.

Thanks Nathan.

Tried a few restarts which hasn’t helped. Switch to the render device to CPU has worked for now.

I assume this is a temporary fix, and it will be possible to revert to GPU later?

Hopefully. This problem exists especially on M1-generation hardware. We have done a lot of investigatng into the issue. We have given all we know to Apple, from our perspective it is an issue with the Metal driver, but are unable to take it further.
