hello, I am getting a lot of crashes with Rhino, not sure whats causing it. It seems to happen randomly within a few minutes, doing anything. Sometimes it instantly crashes when loading, other times it doesnt. Right now I’ve just been moving toolbars and such. Rhino 7 runs fine on this machine. I will say that Rhino 8 is running okay on my other computer, just this one is having issues for some reason.
Here is my SystemInfo for the computer that is crashing.

I’m not seeing any crash reports, is there an opportunity to send one?
Video Card looks OK. It’s not a bad idea to do a clean install of the driver due to some recent Nvidia flakiness. When installing the driver choose the custom option, then click the Clean install option.
Hi, I have not gotten the pop up about a crash report at all actually. i just managed to open up rhino 8 and mess with a file for a bit, but then i quit and tried to reopen and got this error
i had actually gotten this before, but completely uninstalled all versions of rhino and reinstalled microsoft .net framework and did a repair of that for good measure and thought i got rid of the issue.
If i hit retry, that doesnt work, if i hit cancel it takes me to this screen where i can find my license and try to log in, but the error screen comes back
additional update: i just tried to install rhino 7, it has the same error now. any ideas would be appreciated. i would really rather not have to a full wipe on this computer…
No antivirus at all. I even have Microsoft Defender disabled.
I have a lot of redistributables. I repaired this one.
I have that .Net fixer, it hasnt helped.
well, i uninstalled Rhino 7 and 8, cleared out the %appdata% folder and then installed only Rhino 7. Its working so far. Will probably just avoid installing 8 for a while… if i can somehow help you diagnose this issue, let me know. =] Thanks!
Thanks for the update, that is the correct redistributable.
It would be interesting to see if you are getting errors running Rhino 8 in .netframework, so far this looks isolated to your environment, a symptom of something bigger going on.
Well you tempted me, so i installed 8 again and did the shortcut edit for the first run. then i was able to run SetDotNetRuntime and change to framework.
I’m having the same issue. Rhino 8 crashes often, usually when a rendering is starting, but also when I’m editing a texture. Sometimes switching between panels crashes the program too; I think it’s usually panels that show previews of materials or model geometry. I attempted the fixes listed in this thread but I’m still getting fairly frequent crashes. And not just on huge, overly complex models either. It usually doesn’t hang or freeze before crashing as would usually happen in earlier versions of Rhino; it crashes very abruptly.
Sometimes I get a crash report notification with the option to submit the report with a model attached, sometimes not. I’ve submitted several.
